The Deadspell Storm is a gigantic maelstrom of magical energies in multiple forms. It holds together all Shards, Fragments and Raftyards which are pieces of Ancestor World. These energies in the Deadspell Storm may be chaotic in nature, yet they flow in predefined directions forming two pulsating ends, causing the light they emit to grow dim or bright over time in consistent cycles. This effect provides the Shards with day and night, though seasonal effects are not influenced by these waves. Shards usually retain their own seasonal cycles or constant climate.
The Deadspell Storm is cordoned off by something called the Red Rim a more dense red-tinted area at the edges of the known Storm, where levium (the propulsion crystals used by shardships) cannot function properly.
